Origin: D.O. Alto Maipo

The Origin

Maipo Alto, the birthplace of Chilean Cabernet

House of Morandé is born in the heart of the Maipo Valley, specifically in San Bernardo, at the foot of Cerro Chena. Here, our vineyards sit on the third alluvial terrace of the Maipo River, characterized by a horizon of gravel and clay and a loamy structure that allows for deep root development.

With its stony soils, Mediterranean climate, and marked temperature range, this terroir offers exceptional conditions for the slow, concentrated ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Thanks to this terroir of tradition and character, we obtain grapes of great structure and natural balance, giving rise to a deep, elegant wine with excellent aging potential.

Wine as a craft

“The work of a winemaker is a sensitive interpretation of the place and the grape. It requires patience, knowledge, and respect for the processes. It is a craft that connects with the origins of human culture.”

— Ricardo Baettig, Winemaking Director at Viña Morandé
