CASATINTA JOINS THE PORTFOLIO OF VIÑA MORANDÉ

This new project by Morandé represents the exploration of the Casablanca Valley and the patient wait of more than 10 years to achieve the ideal quality for this great wine. An exponent that takes the red varieties of Casablanca to the next level.

The history of this wine is intrinsically linked to that of the Casablanca Valley, discovered more than 40 years ago by our founding winemaker Pablo Morandé. It was he who saw the incredible potential of the area and decided to plant the first vines in the valley. Since then, the success and recognition of Casablanca have only increased, and today it is one of the most valued areas in the country for wine production.

Morandé Casatinta represents Viña Morandé’s commitment to excellence and oenological innovation, taking the Casablanca Valley to a higher level in the production of red wines. This exceptional wine is the result of more than a decade of dedicated exploration and search for perfect quality to bring a winemaking masterpiece to life. A wine that seeks to be a benchmark in excellence and the drive of this renowned origin.

“For many years, the Casablanca Valley has stood out for the excellence of its white wines. However, we decided to explore and demonstrate the amazing quality that certain red varieties can achieve in this region, thanks to the influences of its cool climate, which provide them with extraordinary potential. The result fills us with satisfaction, as we have created an exceptional wine that marks a milestone in the development of high-quality reds in this valley,” says Ricardo Baettig, oenological director of Viña Morandé.

Casatinta, made in the Belén field of the Casablanca Valley, is a composition of 72% Malbec, 24% Syrah, and 4% Cabernet Franc. This vineyard stands out for its red granite soils and a strategic location on the northwest slope, which allows for ideal sun exposure, generating optimal conditions for an exceptional ripening process of the clusters.

A wine where the Malbec presents a unique floral character along with the delicacy of the grape and notes of red fruits. The Syrah adds layers of black fruits and the unmistakable touch of Casablanca olive. Meanwhile, the Cabernet Franc provides tannins and spicy notes that complement the palate, making it more complex. This flavor experience becomes increasingly complex. Morandé Casatinta represents oenological avant-garde and excellence in the Casablanca Valley, marking a new milestone in innovation and quality.
