A year of perfect harvest

Having started and ended 2022 with the Winery of the Year award has undoubtedly been a tremendous pride and privilege that makes us happy and at the same time reaffirms that the path traveled is paying off and has a visible and recognizable meaning for others.

2022 has been a harvest year for us. It began with the recognition of Viña Morandé as Winery of the Year by the Descorchados wine guide. This award distinguished the dynamic, adventurous, and groundbreaking spirit that we have demonstrated throughout our history.

Then we received great accolades in the international press. We were featured in James Suckling’s Chilean Wine Report, where Zekun Shuai, its senior editor, mentioned our tireless and successful spirit of exploring new varieties and terroirs. It also awarded excellent scores to more than 18 wines from our portfolio, with 94 points for House of Morandé 2019 and Vigno 2019, and 93 points for Blanc de Noir 2013, El Gran Petit 2020, Mediterráneo 2019 and Black Series Chardonnay 2020.

Other media that also stood out to us were Vinous which awarded 94 points to House of Morandé 2019 and 93 points to the Black Series 2020 line; Marcelo Copello, the Brazilian wine critic awarded 98 points to House of Morandé 2019, 96 points to Black Series Pinot Noir 2020, 95 points to Black Series Chardonnay 2020 and 94 points to Vigno 2019.

Likewise, Tim Atkin, another great critic of the international wine world, mentioned us in his report, and Black Series Chardonnay 2020 to which he awarded 95 points, Blanc de Noir 2013 and Vigno 2019 with 93 points.

The high point of the year occurred a few weeks ago, when La Cav magazine, the most important wine publication in the country, awarded House of Morandé 2020 the distinction of Best Iconic Wine of Chile for the second consecutive year. Likewise, La Cav awarded us Best Carmenère and Best White Blend for Edición Limitada Carmenère 2020 (97 points) and Bestiario 2021 (95 points), respectively.

To close the year, a very special award. I was highlighted for my career of more than 10 years in charge of Viña Morandé and received recognition for Best Winemaker 2022, and we were named Viña del Año 2023 (Winery of the Year 2023), an award that recognizes the value of Morandé as a player of change in the Chilean industry and its visible dynamism and commitment to excellence and innovation.

But that’s not all, this year too, we had the harvest of a project/dream that we had been planning for years. The launch of our Aventura winery in Pelequén. A new and innovative winery that brings together cutting-edge technology in the wine world in one place. For us, this place represents the materialization and culmination of a project that we have been working on for years, where experimentation and innovation are the north.

Undoubtedly, having started and ended 2022 with the Winery of the Year award has been a tremendous pride and privilege that makes us happy and at the same time reaffirms that the path traveled is bearing fruit and has a visible and recognizable meaning for others. It was a perfect harvest year, and we can’t wait for what this challenging but promising 2023 has in store for us. Let’s go for more!
