Vitis Única

Quality & Innovation

Vitis Única from Morandé presents a portfolio of traditional varieties from outstanding origins made with non-conventional vinification techniques. Through the selection of specific sectors within each of its terroirs, this line offers wines with tremendous complexity, structure, and elegance.

Pinot Noir

This Pinot Noir comes from the El Ensueño estate in the cold sector of Lo Ovalle in the Casablanca Valley. The cold climate valley par excellence in Chile and one of the great terroirs to produce white varieties such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc as well as fresh reds such as Pinot Noir. Its marine influence allows it to refresh the vineyards and favor a slow maturation of the vines, providing great freshness, balance and elegance to the wines.

DIFFERENTIATION

Like the other wines in the Vitis Única line, this Pinot Noir has a very special vinification process that makes it stand out from its competition. First, its grapes are refrigerated for 5 days at 5°C after the harvest, to then be subjected to a manual selection and a delicate process of grinding and manual stomping. With this, only the positive components of the skins are extracted, without over-extracting. Subsequently, the must undergoes cold maceration for 35 days and then 80% aging in foudres and 20% in French oak barrels where it is aged for 12 months.

Wine Tasting

Our winemaker Ricardo Baettig tells a little and tastes about the Gran

Reserva Pinot Noir wine.

“Winemaking is a trade, an interpretation of the grapes as well as the place they are grown. It requires knowledge, sensitivity, hard work, and patience to finally enjoy a product that dates to the origins of human culture. It is a very rewarding endeavor.”

Ricardo Baettig – Viña Morandé Enological Director
Casablanca Valley

We were the first to believe in Casablanca’s potential, and we were not mistaken. Today it is one of the most internationally recognized wine regions for the quality of its wines. Its primary geographic condition is its maritime influence, which enters from the Pacific Ocean and produces morning fog that moderates the temperatures.

Foudres

Ricardo tells us about what fudres are and their contributions to wine.
