Edición Limitada Carmenère 2006: Best Chilean Carmenère in the 1st Wine Challenge "Vinos&Más"
The first contest of wines organized by Vinos & Más magazine, belonging to Líder Supermarkets, was held in Chile this week. During the event over 600 wines were tasted. The samples were evaluated in the first instance by a select group of local sommeliers, including Margaret Snook, Felipe Rojas, Magda Saleh and Sebastian Acosta, who made a pre-classification of 180 wines.
In the Grand Finale, the jury composed of specialist journalists Peter Richards, from England, Jorge Lucki from Brazil, Fabricio Portelli from Argentina, Patricio Tapia from Chile and sommeliers Héctor Riquelme and Héctor Vergara tasted and awarded the samples previously selected. The awards ceremony was held in the Hotel Grand Hyatt Santiago before a vast audience, with Viña Morandé excelling in the following categories:
- BEST CHILEAN CARMENÈRE: Morande Edición Limitada Carmenère 2006, valle del Maipo.
- GOLD MEDAL: Morandé Reserva Sauvignon Blanc 2007, valle de Casablanca.
- SILVER MEDAL: Morandé Gran Reserva Syrah 2003, valle del Maipo / Morandé House Of Morande 2003, valle del Maipo.
